SIM SAHIN - ENVIRONMENT ARTIST
I am a former architect with a passion for creating fictional environments. Throughout my education, I always enjoyed the designing and the visualization processes more than anything else. After realizing that I was seeking to be an environmental storyteller rather than an architect, I decided to merge my enthusiasm about video games with my current skill set and become an Environment Artist.
After graduating from University, I studied in Vancouver Film School’s Game Design Program to learn more about game engines and game optimizations so that I could shape my 3D art experience towards the game industry and real time rendering.
After graduating from Vancouver Film School, I got the chance to work on a few AAA games such as FIFA and Minecraft. Even though, my role on these games wasn’t related to art, I gained lots of transferable knowledge. For example, I got to learn more about the production process for games, team dynamics, multitasking and managing time efficiently while following tight deadlines.
Furthermore, I kept practicing my art skills on the side. I participated in SkyBox Labs Game Jams and in Global Game Jam as the 3D Artist. Moreover, I kept working on my personal projects after work and my one of my latest artworks “Retro Night” got featured on ArtStation’s LinkedIn and Instagram pages. These eventually led me to get my current job which is “Environment Artist” on “Halo Forge” at SkyBox Labs.
